"Addressing the human conditions of our time"    

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

The 2010 State Congress is history and what a great time we had in Crestview.  I would like to thank Dr. McCollough and his cabinet, Reverend Sanford Hayes and the local Pastors and for hosting this year’s Congress.  The Youth had a record number in attendance and the adults seemed thrilled with the opportunities to learn more about this Christian journey.  The Minister Wives shared with me how great their session was especially the lunch retreat to Panama City.  Indeed the City of Crestview and Crestview High School and the churches used will never be the same because of the constituents of Progressive M&E.

While we had record attendance and a very spirit-filled session, our finances did not meet our budget to fulfill our obligations as a convention.  We had 61 churches to enroll this session.  I am asking all of the churches that did not enroll to send you enrollment as soon as possible to our financial secretary.  I want to thank all of you for your continued support as we strive to meet the needs of our people.

Lastly, as many of you are aware, my mother-in-law, Sister Rosier, was in the hospital while we were in Crestview and is now recuperating at a local rehabilitation facility.  She has a strong will and is improving on a daily basis.  Also, the Sunday after the Congress ended, the Lord summoned my oldest brother, Elder Gene Banks, from labor to reward.  I am so grateful for the outpouring of support to me and my family in Pensacola.  Thanks for all of you that called, visited us, and attended the wake and those that attended the funeral of my brother.

Lady Banks and I appreciate all of your cards, phone calls and flowers during our season of health challenge and our loss.
